Novelist Warren Adler, best known for The War of the Roses, has passed away at the age of ninety-one.

Adler’s son confirmed his death last Friday to the New York Times, whose obituary for the writer can be found here.

The War of the Roses, starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, wasn’t his only hit novel, nor his only novel to become a movie — Random Hearts, featuring Harrison Ford and Kristin Scott Thomas, was adapted in 1999.

(Adler, however, had some unpleasant thoughts about the process, which he also shared with the Times.)
