Critics may hate it, but E.L. James’s latest release is flying off the shelves.
The Mister, which leaves behind the world of Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, went on sale April 16 and has notched some impressive sales in that first week.
Nielsen BookScan recorded 52,674 physical sales of The Mister, putting it at the top of its book charts, according to the Guardian.
It’s Amazon’s second-best seller for this week.
And the Bookseller says it’s the highest single week of sales for an adult book since July 2018 (Dan Brown’s Origin) and the highest first-week sales since November 2017 (James’s Darker).
The Mister, obviously a romance novel, stars Maxim Trevelyan — an earl, model, photographer, and DJ — and his mysterious housecleaner, Alessia Demachi.
