The competition was as stiff as a martini, but a Tennessee man has emerged as the 2019 Hemingway Look-Alike Contest champion.
Joe Maxey was finally victorious during his eighth entry into the contest, held over the weekend at Sloppy Joe’s Bar, which of course Ernest Hemingway frequented during his time in Key West.
He may resemble the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, but it’s obvious he didn’t read our National Mojito Day post — Maxey told The Associated Press that he’s not much of a fisherman, but that he does love mojitos (wrongly cited as Hemingway’s favorite drink) and women.
Enjoy a photo gallery from the event, along with the AP's reporting.
