Those uncomfortable with Lolita will soon have a new reading option: a retelling from the title character’s perspective.
French author Christophe Tison will publish Journal de L (Diary of L) in France this Thursday, with the permission of the Vladimir Nabokov Literary Foundation.
The Bookseller reports that an English translation should be ready by the end of September.
Tison, himself a victim of childhood sexual abuse, wanted to give Lolita a voice, since the original novel is told by her abuser.
