Would you like to read the memoir of a defense secretary’s former speechwriter?

If so, Mother Jones has bad news for you: It reports that this particular book is tied up in legal wrangling.

Guy Snodgrass, who worked for Defense Secretary James Mattis, is suing the Defense Department because it, in his opinion, had “unreasonably delayed” the standard review of his book ... partly to help sales of Mattis’s own memoir.

Snodgrass told his former boss about Holding the Line: Inside Trump’s Pentagon with Secretary Mattis back in March and had planned to publish the book on October 29.

The accuracy of that date is now in question, while Mattis’s Call Sign Chaos: Learning to Lead — which also paints a rosier picture of the current presidential administration — has already hit shelves.
