Good news for readers on the East Coast or bookworms who have plans to head there in the next few months.

The New York Public Library will host a J.D. Salinger exhibition from October 18, 2019, through January 19, 2020 — for free.

Some two hundred personal and professional items will be on display for the first time, including drafts from all stages of The Catcher in the Rye, a bowl he made at summer camp at age ten, his typewriters, and much more.

The NYPL has pictures of some of the artifacts online, for those who can’t visit, and you can also read comments from Salinger’s son in the same news release.
