It’s World Mental Health Day, and of course there are recommended reading lists to accompany the topic.
Writer’s Digest includes several classic novels (though perhaps some you might not associate with mental health) in addition to contemporary fiction and nonfiction in its roundup of books about mental health.
Here’s a list from Oprah magazine that originally ran during May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month.
Contributors to the anthology (Don’t) Call Me Crazy: 33 Voices Start The Conversation About Mental Health shared their favorite books about mental health for a post on BookRiot last year.
And Bustle shares several books on mental illness that came out in the past two years — again, a mix of fiction and nonfiction.
