Developers in Humboldt Park are making the Chicago neighborhood’s connection to L. Frank Baum a heck of a lot more visible.

The novelist wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz while living there, and although that house was razed years ago, we’ll soon have a yellow brick road (er, sidewalk) near the site.

Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation, which is building affordable housing units in the area, decided to add the sidewalk as a more noticeable nod to Baum.

Bickerdike's CEO told Block Club Chicago that the sidewalk should be done soon; no later than next spring, an eleven-foot-long Oz-themed mural will accompany it.
