It’s almost happy hour in the Midwest, so it seems fitting to share an interview with the author of Last Call: Bartenders on their Final Drink, and the Wisdom and Rituals of Closing Time.
Author Brad Thomas Parsons was inspired to write the book after inadvertently staying two hours past closing time at one of his favorite watering holes.
The experience led him to reflect on the rituals of closing time and what deeper meaning they might bring.
So Parsons traveled across the country and visited over eighty bars, ranging from dive bars to chic cocktail lounges, to ask a few questions of the bartenders at each.
The book compiles their answers and drink recipes, both of which you can preview by listening to Parsons below or by reading an article of his interview on NPR.
