Kevin Barry will help adapt his novel Night Boat to Tangier for the big screen along with actor Michael Fassbender, reports the Bookseller.

Night Boat to Tangier was longlisted for the Booker Prize and was chosen as one of the New York Times Book Review’s 10 Best Books of 2019.

It tells the story, according to its blurb, of “two aging criminals at the tail ends of their damage-filled careers.”

Barry has also written the award-nominated and -winning novel City of Bohane and two short-story collections, Dark Lies the Island and There Are Little Kingdoms.

Fassbender is known for his roles in 300, Band of Brothers, Inglourious Basterds, Steve Jobs, and various X-Men films, among others.

His production company, DMC Film, has worked on several movies before this, including Assassin’s Creed (which also starred Fassbender) and an adaptation of Macbeth.
