In case you missed it, NPR revealed the shortlist for the Aspen Words Literary Prize yesterday
These five books focusing on major social issues are still in the running for the grand prize of $35,000:

Opioid, Indiana, by Brian Allen Carr.

The Beekeeper of Aleppo, by Christy Lefteri.
The winner will be announced April 16; you can check out NPR’s past coverage of some of the authors in the shortlist announcement post.
Tayari Jones won the award last year for An American Marriage.
