The newswire has been a bit dark this morning, so we’re pleased to break that streak with funny children’s literature news.

Louis Sachar’s Wayside School Beneath the Cloud of Doom — the fourth book in the Wayside School series — came out yesterday, breaking a twenty-five-year drought.

And we suspect we’re not alone in our nostalgic excitement, since the book is at the top of an Amazon subgenre chart.

In this installment, Mrs. Jewls and her quirky students are preparing for the Ultimate Test, but (as the title indicates) a mysterious and ominous cloud is hanging above their building …
