Congratulations to author Chloe Aridjis, whose novel Sea Monsters has won the 2020 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction.

Her reward for receiving America’s largest peer-juried prize for fiction, in addition to glory, is a $15,000 cash prize.

Sea Monsters follows a Mexican teenager’s quest to track down a traveling troupe of Ukrainian dwarfs and her father’s parallel journey to find where she’s run off to.

The four other finalists — Yiyun Li (Where Reasons End), Peter Rock (The Night Swimmers), Maurice Carlos Ruffin (We Cast a Shadow) and Ocean Vuong (On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous) — will receive $5,000 each.
