Here’s another instance of a book that wasn’t written in response to the coronavirus pandemic, but that is eerily appropriate for the times we’re in.

Author Mark O'Connell visited a number of people who, in varying ways, were preparing for extreme upheaval or even a doomsday, in order to write his new book Notes from an Apocalypse.

He admits to Terry Gross that some of the books he bought to supplement his interviews and touring have actually seen some use recently, too.

But all that said, he doesn’t plan to join any of the communities he encountered during his research.

Learn more about O’Connell’s book and the sites he visited by listening to his Fresh Air interview below or by reading the NPR article or transcription.
