We know which toys and which recipes are becoming lifesavers during the shelter-in-place period (try finding yeast or puzzles nowadays).

But what types of books are flying off the shelves — or are we actually just talking a big game about returning to reading?

Heloise Wood of the BBC answers those questions for both the US and the UK and also shares some interesting insights into what readers craved during previous crises, like World War II and the Great Recession.
