There’s a new hashtag you may have missed this weekend: #PublishingPaidMe.
Black fantasy author LL McKinney launched the Twitter trend, which asked white authors to reveal their advances, to highlight yet another area of racial disparity.
One such contrast came in science fiction, with John Scalzi, who is white, revealing several five- and six-figure advances, and N.K. Jemisin, who is black, topping out at $40,000.
You can read more results in the Guardian’s article on the hashtag or by, of course, checking it out on Twitter.
