Literary Hub is celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the novel Practical Magic today.

Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, for those unfamiliar with it, is the story of the Owens sisters — descendants of witches who try to escape their destiny in different ways.

It became a hit movie a few years later, starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, and this year, it will welcome a prequel.

Magic Lessons — which goes back to the 1600s to Maria Owens, an ancestress of the Practical Magic sisters — comes out October 6.

You can read more about it and preorder it on Hoffman’s website.
