Writer Milan Kundera has declared a destination for his archives: his hometown library.
Expats.cz reports that Kundera, a native of Brno, Czech Republic, will begin sending his papers, photos, and other documents from his Paris residence to Brno’s Moravian Library this fall.
The catalogued collection will be accessible to the public (though mostly digitally) and stored in a room called The Library of Milan Kundera.
It includes copies of Kundera’s books in numerous languages, articles by or about him, photographs of him, and drawings he’s done.
Kundera, best known for The Unbearable Lightness of Being, fled his native land (then Czechoslovakia) in 1975 and has lived in France ever since; his Czech citizenship was restored late last year.
