Celebrity book clubs have released their picks for October.
Reese Witherspoon selected His Only Wife by Peace Adzo Medie.
The book tells the story of Afi, who agrees to marry a man she doesn’t know and must navigate a move from her small hometown to Ghana’s capital — and a household in which her husband may or may not participate.
"Culture, heroism and the search for independence are just a few of the wonderful themes in this vibrant book," Witherspoon wrote in announcing her Hello Sunshine book club selection.
Jenna Bush Hager picked Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam.
In the book, a white family is enjoying their time in a vacation rental when the Black owners of the home arrive unexpectedly, fleeing a blackout in the city; the chaos they fled soon follows.
"To call it only a thriller discredits the incredible detail and intimacy with which the author writes about and understands family dynamics and race," Hager said in announcing her Read With Jenna pick.
And finally, Good Morning America chose The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
The book sends our protagonist, Nora, into a library that contains an infinite number of books that all describe how one's life would have turned out differently had one made different decisions.
You can read an excerpt from The Midnight Library in GMA’s announcement.
