Excerpts from “The Cold Millions,” “White Ivy,” and “To Be a Man”

We recently shared NPR’s interview with The Cold Millions author Jess Walter, and now we have a sample from his latest work, too.

The novel, set in the early 20th century, follows two brothers fighting the same battle against poverty but taking sharply different paths.
