Looking for a good virtual New Year’s Eve celebration?
Here’s an option (especially if you’re not a night owl): a radio special hosted by novelist Haruki Murakami.
Murakami’s “Year-crossing Special” will be aired on Tokyo FM, which appears to have online streaming options as well.
The show kicks off at 11 p.m. local time — which in this case is Kyoto, Japan — so listeners in the Central time zone should tune in at 8 a.m. locally.
Murakami — whose works include Killing Commendatore, Norwegian Wood, and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle — has won a number of prizes worldwide, and his work has been translated into over fifty languages.
He gave a limited preview of the two-hour show to the Asahi Shimbun website.
