The characters that one author most dislikes

This time of year is all about sharing the things we most liked (as hard as it may be to find silver linings in 2020).

For a slight change of pace, the Guardian turned to author Louise Candlish to identify the top ten dislikable characters in fiction.

Candlish stuck strictly to characters whose personalities might grate against one’s nerves, versus inspiring absolute loathing — no full-on villains in this list, that is.
