Today’s new releases have a few features in common.

Both are connected to previous releases by those authors.

And both of those previous releases inspired strong emotion — positive and negative — among readers and nonreaders alike.

And the new releases are: Saving Justice by James Comey, a sequel to 2018’s A Higher Loyalty; and Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas, a prequel to 2017’s The Hate U Give

So far, reviews of Saving Justice are mixed, while Kirkus and Publishers Weekly are enthusiastic about Concrete Rose.

You can also listen to an interview Thomas did about the book with NPR's Noel King below.
