Merriam-Webster has added 520 words to its online dictionary.

Unsurprisingly, that includes more coronavirus-related words, such as “long hauler,” in addition to updated meanings for such words as “pod” and “bubble.”

Other additions relate to online communication (“hard pass,” “cancel culture,” and “@“), the workplace and economy (“gig worker” and “makerspace”), identity (“BIPOC,” “folx," and … “silver fox”), and comfort (“hygge”).

Most of these reflect months of increased usage, but another addition — “second gentleman” — points more toward the future.

You can see a few more of the additions, along with definitions, on Merriam-Webster’s Words at Play blog
