This is not the news we wanted to see during Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week.

There’s a live-action version of beloved children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon in the works.

The Hollywood Reporter says Zachary Levi will star in the movie, to be written by a pair whose previous credits include Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Dinner for Schmucks.

It also notes that this isn’t the first attempt to adapt Crockett Johnson’s book … is it wrong to hope that there’s a jinx that will prolong this drought?
