If you grew up — or raised kids — on Cricket magazine, we’re sorry to say that its creator has passed away.
Marianne Carus died on March 3 at age ninety-two, reports the New York Times.
Carus was both discouraged by the reading material her children brought home and inspired to offer something better, according to her obituary.

Read more about Carus and her efforts to nurture young readers in the NY Times.
