Award-winning author Larry McMurtry died Thursday night at age eighty-four.

Among his nearly fifty books were the Pulitzer-Prize winning Lonesome Dove and Terms of Endearment, the movie adaptation of which won an Oscar.

But that wasn’t McMurtry’s only foray into Hollywood; he shared an Oscar for best adapted screenplay for his work on Brokeback Mountain.
