Those of you who have delayed a Brontë-themed trip (or who have had COVID delay their planned Brontë-themed trip), we’re afraid we have some bad news.
The Yorkshire moors that inspired and appear so prominently in Wuthering Heights were chosen as the site of a new housing estate, according to Literary Hub.
Author and scholar Michael Stewart, who recently created the Brontë Stones Walk, warns that such a development will destroy the epic views and is contrary to the area’s purported pride in — and tourism industry based on – its Brontë connection.
Council plans state that the intent is to require a “sensitive site design … to mitigate any impact on the Brontë Way.”
