Those of you who have delayed a Brontë-themed trip (or who have had COVID delay their planned Brontë-themed trip), we’re afraid we have some bad news.

The Yorkshire moors that inspired and appear so prominently in Wuthering Heights were chosen as the site of a new housing estate, according to Literary Hub.

Author and scholar Michael Stewart, who recently created the Brontë Stones Walk, warns that such a development will destroy the epic views and is contrary to the area’s purported pride in — and tourism industry based on – its Brontë connection.

Council plans state that the intent is to require a “sensitive site design … to mitigate any impact on the Brontë Way.”

I started a petition to prevent... this. The link is here: https://www.change.org/p/bradford-council-the-bront%C3%ABs-moors-threatened-stop-the-housing-plan-right-now?recruiter=1191264285&recruited_by_id=fd187ed0-96da-11eb-b298-db1d20847f32&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=petition_dashboard but possibly it doesn't work. If so, I'll start another one for tomorrow... or you guys can do it? Anyway, we HAVE TO. Let's save the moors!
