The International Booker Prize has revealed its judges for 2022, and at least one of them has previous judging experience … of baked goods.

Mel Giedroyc, a former host of The Great British Bake Off, will join translator Frank Wynne (the chair), author and academic Merve Emre, writer and lawyer Petina Gappah, and translator and author Jeremy Tiang.

While Giedroyc may be more widely known for her television appearances, she’s also a published author, having released The Best Things in April.

The International Booker Prize longlist (which could be a dozen OR a baker’s dozen) will come out next March, with the shortlist being announced in April and the winners (of an increased cash prize) being revealed in May.
