Spider-Man has defeated Superman … in the arena of most expensive comic book, that is.
A copy of the 1962 comic Amazing Fantasy #15, introducing Peter Parker/Spider-Man, sold at auction yesterday for $3.6 million, reports the Guardian.
(That’s up from the original price of 12 cents, by the way.)
Just this spring, a copy of Action Comics #1, in which Superman made his debut, went for $3.25 million — a record for a comic sale, at that time.
Heritage Auctions, which sold the now-record-holding Spider-Man comic, said it’s one of just four known copies and was in “pristine” condition.
You can see the cover of Amazing Fantasy #15 and read more about its contents in the Guardian.
