Edgar Allan Poe died on this day in 1849, days after being found incoherent and semi-consciousness.

Though his ending was rather ignominious and his work underappreciated during his lifetime, his reputation has, clearly, recovered in the years since.

So much so that Catherine Baab-Muguira has written a tongue-in-cheek inspirational tale called Poe For Your Problems: Uncommon Advice from History’s Least Likely Self-Help Guru.
