A doubly famous photograph is up for auction today.
Lewis Carroll took the 1863 image — which he printed himself — of poet/painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti and his sister Christina Rossetti, also a poet, reports the Guardian.
The image predates Carroll’s fame as the author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (the early version of which he is said to have written while reading Christina Rossetti’s Goblin Market and Other Poems).
Bonhams, which is auctioning the photograph, expects it to bring in $50,000 to $70,000.
