Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen has a book deal.
The Associated Press reports that there’s no release date or title to be reported, but publisher Little, Brown and Company did announce yesterday that a deal had been struck.
Haugen, a data scientist, shared thousands of pages of internal research from Facebook showing how the social media company’s algorithms favored negative content and thus fostered polarization and depression among users.
Facebook has pushed back against such characterization.
In a statement about her book deal, Haugen said that safety doesn’t have to be sacrificed to profits, as she has accused Facebook of doing.
“We can have social media we love that also brings out the best in humanity,” she said.
