Millennials, rejoice or brace yourselves: the Sweet Valley High books are returning to television.

Deadline reports that some of the creative forces behind the TV series Gossip Girl — itself based on YA books — will lead the production of Sweet Valley, also for the CW.

Francine Pascal’s hit YA series starring California twin sisters Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield came out in 1983 and came to comprise 181 books, according to Deadline.

The TV show Sweet Valley, though, won’t be a faithful adaptation, unlike previous screen versions inspired by the books.

Instead, it tasks the new girl in town, Enid, with reconciling Elizabeth and Jessica after the latter miraculously returns from a mysterious absence — and exposing something dark in Sweet Valley.
