Last Friday was the 72nd anniversary of author George Orwell’s death.

We’re still, though, as Literary Hub points out, discovering new facts about his relatively short life.

To wit: Orwell’s classmate at Eton, Sir Steven Runciman, shared an anecdote about how the pair performed a black magic ritual to revenge themselves on a bully.

This story only emerged for the 2003 book Inside George Orwell.

But you can read the abridged version of Orwell's black magic adventure at Lit Hub.
