A new adaptation of Pinocchio has a release date — well, a month and year at least — and a teaser trailer.

The stop-action film from Guillermo del Toro will come out on Netflix this December, starring the voices of Ewan McGregor (Sebastian J. Cricket), David Bradley (Geppetto), and Gregory Mann (Pinocchio).

Other well-known actors who will perform include Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Christoph Waltz, and Tilda Swinton.

Del Toro's version moves the source material into 1930s Italy, reports Variety, with fascism and Benito Mussolini both on the rise.

This and previous Pinocchio movies are based on the children's novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, written in serialized form in 1881 by Carlo Collodi and published as a whole book in 1883.
