Isabel Allende's latest novel, Violeta, hit shelves yesterday, to the delight of the many publications that included it on most-anticipated-of-2022 lists.

This book from the bestselling author of The House of the Spirits and A Long Petal of the Sea follows the hundred-year life of its title character.

Violeta is born in 1920, when the world is still reeling from an epic war and brutal pandemic, and must continue to adapt to life's vicissitudes.

She describes these moments of happiness, misery, and everything in between in a letter to her most beloved.

You can read an excerpt of Violeta at Literary Hub.
