For two hundred years, Mr. Darcy has been many a reader's dream valentine.
We can't deliver him, but if your favorite film version of him is Matthew Macfadyen, we can at least give you an excuse to swoon over him again.
In one scene of the 2005 Pride and Prejudice adaptation, Macfadyen famously flexed his hand after helping Keira Knightly (playing Elizabeth Bennet) into a carriage.
The simple gesture became an internet sensation, and in a recent interview with NPR, Macfadyen dished on how it happened as well as his surprise at being cast as Mr. Darcy.
Macfadyen's Fresh Air interview transcript is up on NPR's website ... and a clip of "the flex" is up on YouTube.
