Valentine's Day has traditionally focused on the kind of romance that culminates in marriage.

But that's far from the only kind of love that humans can (and hopefully do) experience.

Vox's Muizz Akhtar argues that among the many reasons to celebrate Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Left Hand of Darkness are its lessons about platonic love.

Akhtar makes the case that a person's greatest romance can be with their best friend(s), using LeGuin's characters of Genly Ai and Therem Harth rem ir Estraven as the illustrative example.
