The finalists for the 2022 Joyce Carol Oates Prize were revealed yesterday.
The $50,000 prize, sponsored by the New Literary Project, honors a distinguished midcareer author of fiction who has demonstrated a "widespread appeal" among readers.
The winner will also then be in residence at the University of California, Berkeley, and in the Bay Area in October 2022.
Here are the contenders; a winner will be announced in April.
