Congratulations to the winners of the 2022 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, which honor the best mystery fiction, nonfiction, and television!

The Mystery Writers of America handed out the honors last night.

• Best novel: Five Decembers, by James Kestrel.

• Best first novel by an American author: Deer Season, by Erin Flanagan.

• Best fact crime: Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New York, by Elon Green.

• Best juvenile novel: Concealed, by Christina Diaz Gonzalez.

• Best YA novel: Firekeeper's Daughter, by Angeline Boulley
