Watch a trailer for "Matilda the Musical"

Matilda the Musical is coming back — but on screen, not stage.

This adaptation of Roald Dahl's tale of bookworm empowerment racked up a number of awards when it premiered in 2011.

So unsurprisingly, the streaming service Netflix is rebooting it, with Alisha Weir starring as Matilda ... and Emma Thompson playing Miss Trunchbull.

The teaser trailer went live yesterday; you can watch it on YouTube or below.

Variety reports that Matilda the Musical will premiere in UK theaters on December 2, but the Netflix release date hasn't been announced.
