Of course many bookworms will bristle at the thought of a beloved book becoming a movie.

And they won't be shy about sharing their opinions, either.

The recent release of a trailer for the Netflix adaptation of Persuasion by Jane Austen has proved to be no exception.

If you haven't watched it, well, Twitter users suggest that you just don't — BuzzFeed shared a number of examples of viewers tearing down the July 15 release.

What really took off, though, was one particular fan's disdain for the film.

Acclaimed author Brandon Taylor, known for Real Life and Filthy Animals, went viral with his objections to it.

One tweet of note: "Sorry this has proven America to be an unsafe place and i simply cannot return and shall be applying for asylum in France."

We've embedded the trailer below for those who want to see just what the fuss is about.
