As we saw two summers ago, during the Black Lives Matter movement's rise, bookstores have become a place of solace — and action — in the wake of the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Publishers Weekly spoke to a number of indie bookstores across the United States and heard about increased sales (which dated back to the leaked draft ruling) for books related to reproductive rights — but also sales of comforting reading material as well.
And as PW and Literary Hub both note, many of these bookstores are raising money to support reproductive rights, women's rights, and human rights organizations.
