Today we're interviewing Tony Flood, who began his writing life as a sports and leisure journalist on various national and regional papers.
He's now an author of biographies, crime thrillers, and fantasy adventure novels.
SADYE: How did you come to see yourself as a writer, and what inspired you to seek publication?
TONY: I was inspired by my wife and fellow author Heather to write my first book, a fantasy adventure called Secret Potion, and then a celebrity book called My Life With the Stars.
As a journalist and Controller of Information at Sky Television, I had met and written about many showbiz and sports stars.
SADYE: Which of your characters would you most and least like to become romantically involved with?
TONY: I'd most like to be romantically involved with Katrina Merton, the super delicious heroine in murder mystery Triple Tease.
She's a stunningly attractive, 29-year-old blonde with a dazzling smile, shapely legs and hour-glass figure – a younger version of TV star Holly Willoughby. And she risks her life to find the killer!
I'd least like to be involved with Raven Vickers, the ruthless, selfish, manipulative PA of a husband falsely accused of murdering his wife in my forthcoming thriller Fall Guy – who really killed his wife?
SADYE: What have been the most surprising, rewarding, and challenging parts of your writing career?
TONY: As a journalist, I met and wrote about many celebrities including Muhammad Ali, Des O'Connor, Elvis Presley, Kylie Minogue, George Best, Joan Collins, and Eric Morecambe.
The most challenging tasks were interviewing Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar immediately after the Hillsborough Disaster and taking dancing lessons from Strictly Come Dancing's Erin Boag.
SADYE: What has been the most touching or memorable piece of reader feedback you’ve received?
TONY: International best-selling author Peter James gave a glowing endorsement to my crime thriller Triple Tease, and the Sun newspaper's Stuart Pink did likewise with my next crime thriller Stitch Up! — Killer or Victim?, saying it has “a riveting plot and electrifying double twist”.
SADYE: What message or theme would you like readers to take away from your work?
TONY: My books are full of original ideas and interesting characters to provide maximum enjoyment and entertainment. They are also extensively researched to ensure accuracy and credibility.
