The MacArthur Foundation revealed its 2022 fellowship recipients yesterday, and several wordsmiths were among them.
Recipients of the twenty-five “genius grants” (worth $625,000 each) include:
-
P. Gabrielle Foreman, a literary historian and digital humanist
-
Robin Wall Kimmerer, a plant ecologist, educator, and author
-
Joseph Drew Lanham, an ornithologist, naturalist, and author
-
Kiese Laymon, a multigenre author
These and the other fellows "are excavators uncovering what has been overlooked, undervalued, or poorly understood. They are archivists reminding us of what should survive," said MacArthur Fellows Director Marlies Carruth.
