No matter your bookish tastes, there's a historical event for you to celebrate today.

We already shared today's literary birthdays, but one of them — Noah Webster's — has inspired today to be Dictionary Day.

Other books to honor today are Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre (published October 16, 1847) and C.S. Lewis's The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (published October 16, 1950).

And finally, here's a bittersweet award anniversary: ten years ago today, author Hilary Mantel (who died September 22) won the Booker Prize for Bring Up the Bodies, becoming the first Briton and first woman to win twice.
