Congratulations are in order for author Meg Medina, who is our new national ambassador for young people's literature!

The Library of Congress will officially welcome Medina, who is the first Latinx ambassador in the program's history, on January 24. (The event will be streamed on YouTube, in case you want to watch.)

Her works include Merci Suárez Changes Gears, a middle-grade novel that won a Newbery Medal in 2019, and Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass, which both won the Pura Belpré Award in 2014 and drew the ire of book-challenger.

Head to NPR to read about or listen to Medina's plans for her time as national ambassador for young people's literature.
