It occurred to me one day that if a reading recommendation includes the phrase "prep school," I'm almost certainly bound to read it.

Why do I — who never attended a prep school, or sought to do so — find them irresistible in fiction?

Isabelle Popp has a few theories for me!

She wrote a piece for BookRiot on the literary popularity of dark academia.

(And yes, I think one of her theories — "having your cake and eating it too" — offers a decent explanation for my fascination with it.)
