Acclaimed author Percival Everett has big plans for his next novel.
Literary Hub, citing Publishers Marketplace, reports that Everett will retell Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from Jim's perspective in the upcoming novel James.
James will come out in March 2024 and netted its author a $500,000-plus deal.
It's described as "harrowing and ferociously funny."
Everett has previously been shortlisted for the Booker Prize (for The Trees) and is in the running for a 2022 National Book Critics Circle Award (for Dr. No).
